"Alajärvi is a small town with a population of about 5,000, in west central Finland. The project consisted of a town hall and health centre, together with a separate community centre, the whole embracing an inner pedestrian zone. The new buildings are intended to blend with the surroundings, which include the nearby neo-classical church, retaining as far as possible the rural character of the place." — Karl Fleig.
