| Building Summary | Fetzer Winery Administration Building, designed by Valley Architects, at Hopland, California, 2002. A small office building, constructed with pise rammed earth reinforced by concrete post and beam, in a mild temperate climate, and a rural, agricultural/light industrial context. A high-sustainability building, based on daylighting, shading, rammed earth walls, rooftop photovoltaics, and energy efficiency. |
| Community Relationship | As part of a rural production complex, this unimposing and environmentally-sensitive administration building makes an important statement about organizational values. A gently positive interaction. |

| Community Relationship Discussion | Fetzer Winery Administration Building Community Relationship
The immediate community here is the rest of the Fetzer Winery complex. The administration seems to fit in comfortably, at the same time as it makes a proud statement about leadership and committment to environmental values. Little if any negative impact is likely to be made on the wider community that might see the building while driving by on the rural road, a few hundred feet from the building. Its surrounding gardens are beautiful. Some interest and intrigue may be generated by views of the rooftop photovoltaic array.
