| Discussion | Lappia House Commentary
“The accommodation of the Lappia House comprises the Lapland Provincial Museum, a music school, a small broadcasting organisation, a multi-purpose theatre seating over 400, and a 150-seat conference hall which can be combined with the theatre to form one volume. The second of Aalto’s buildings for Rovaniemi, the Lappia House, will be joined by a town hall, thus completing the infrastruicture of the town centre. While extensive use is made of tiling both externally and internally, the building seems to recall in its massing the Werkbund Theatre, 1914, of Van der Velde.” — David Dunster, ed. Architectural Monographs 4: Alvar Aalto. p75. | |
