“Twelve years after the hall was built, an adjacent annex was completed. The principal space here is the semicircular conference hall on the fourth level, lit by tiers of curved skylights. The lower levels hold lecture, lounge, and office areas, all visually and spatially interconnected by bridges, balconies, and stairways. Annex and medical hall are linked by an interior courtyard, which is bounded on one side by the original rear facade of the earlier structure.” — Arata Isozaki.
