“The converson of a tobacco barn is based on the projection of diagonal volumes into the original orthoganl form. The two diagonal elements (one on each of the building’s two floors) are rectangular volumes set counter to one another. Together, they introduce a secondary grid on each floor. This overlapping of grids creates a variety of angular living rooms on the ground floor and bedrooms on the second floor. Windows cover over half the surface of the additions, dramatically increasing the amount of daylight throughout the house.”
