Discussion Stelling's Building Commentary

“Without disregarding the demands of modern architecture in respect of precision and clarity, Jacobsen chose, for the outer walls, materials of higher weathering resistance than the white plaster rendering which he had used in so many of his earlier works.… The building is situated in an old part of the town and was, at the time, criticized for its ‘irreverent modernism.’ To-day, however, it is possible to appreciate how well this house measures up to the scale of the old buildings, and how much even its building material is in keeping with the congenial atmosphere of the district.”
