"As part of a plan to double in size within five years, the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising -- a college for the business of fashion -- took over and joined the seventh floors of adjoining buildings at 535 and 545 Fifth Avenue. The new facilities house classrooms, studios, computer labs, student and faculty lounges, and offices for administrators. Among other specialized spaces are a laboratory for creating cosmetics and fragrances and a color- and materials-research area that contains color and forecasting service reports, color viewing stations, and a textiles library.
