This Tudor Revival dwelling was constructed in 1925 as a joint project between a real estate developement firm named the Oliver-Eakle Estates, operated by Mellisa Dora Oliver-Eakle's nephew, and the evening newspaper the Amarillo Globe News with Gene Howe as founder and editor. Amarillo's first model home was constructed to foster interest in one of the city's newest neighborhoods by marking the homes location with a large arch spanning the street to showcase the talents and products of local craftsmen and building supply companys. The home incorporated the most modern conveniences such as electric appliances and an attached double garage. Architecully designed by regionally signifiant Guy A. Carlander this speculatively built home was a representive of the Tudor Revival housing stock that achived prominence in the city and typified the period revival dwellings in great numbers in the surrounding neighborhoods during the communitys oil boom era.
