The home is a two story, 12 room frame structure, with a portico and Doric columns. The home was constructed in 1857 by David Hubbard, one of early settlers of Iuka. The home was built where Chief Iuka was supposed to have lived. The house was later sold to R.C Brinkley, who made extensive improvements. During the Civil War, General Grant used the home as a headquarters. Upon vacating, Grant left a note telling the Brinkley family that he had taken good care of the property and that he enjoyed his stay there.
