William Price received no academic training in architecture. However, during the 1880s he studied part-time at the School of Industrial Arts in Philadelphia where he gained a thorough knowledge of applied art. Throughout his career, Price worked in the Philadelphia area.
Before 1900, Price primarily designed and built country estates, but after 1900 he expanded his commissions to include hotels, factories, and commercial buildings. He used the new technology of steel and reinforced concrete for many of his projects. To design his buildings, Price blended a mix of European and American sources with his own personal tastes to create a unique, somewhat eclectic style.
Price died in 1916.
